A Statement of Concern and Conscience
Regarding the Terrorist Attacks
on Tuesday September 11, 2001
The Board of Trustees and the Senior Minister of East Shore Unitarian Church, Bellevue, Washington condemn the brutal and unjustifiable terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. We are saddened profoundly by the horrific suffering and loss of life which they caused.
Our sadness is increased when we consider the talk of war and revenge by our national leadership and others. We are concerned that such a path will bring neither justice nor peace, but only the further loss of innocent life and increased enmity toward our country. We, therefore, call upon our national leaders to show courageous restraint and to use deliberate and rational decision–making as they respond to this unprecedented and intentional attack.
