One Service Begins This Sunday

Beginning May 26 (Memorial Day weekend) East Shore holds one service at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Two services will resume on Sunday, September 22, 2013.

Beloved Conversations

Next September East Shore is going to embark on a remarkable journey entitled Beloved Conversations.  Beloved Conversations is an intensive multi-week meditation on diversity and culture.  Over the past twenty years, the demographics of the Eastside have changed significantly.  The Committee on Ministry has been talking about East Shore’s demographics (race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, level of education, parental status) and what factors attract or detract individuals and families from exploring our church as a faith community.

Beloved Conversations will kick off with a retreat on Friday, September 13th, 7 - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, September, 14th all day.  After that, participants will meet every Wednesday between September 25th and November 13th from 7 - 9:00 p.m. (eight sessions).

Although we hope to offer the Beloved Conversations curriculum over and over again, this fall only twenty people will be able to participate.  We are looking for church members who are:

  • Open minded, curious, playful, courageous and willing to be challenged,

  • Committed to the topic of anti-oppression and multiculturalism,

  • Committed to stick with the process,

  • Leaders or potential leaders,

  • Well-grounded and emotionally stable,

  • Good communicators and good team members, and

  • Able to make the time commitment.

Are you someone with these qualities?  Would you like to participate in Beloved Conversations?

“Yes I want to be part of Beloved Conversations and I can make the time commitment.” Click here to sign up.

Do you know someone who you would like to be part of the Beloved Conversations program?  Do you know someone with the qualities listed above?  Do you know someone who would be a great leader in bringing East Shore into a new way of being in our increasingly caring and diverse community? The Legacy Book

For the past seven years, a small intrepid group of volunteers led by Bill Lauman and Ron Hammond has been hard at work behind the scenes, interviewing long-time East Shore members. Transcripts of the interviews are placed in the Legacy Book, a 3-ring binder that rests on the front counter in the church office. These interviews are NOT the kind of history book you read in school; they are a rollicking ride through East Shore history, with great stories galore, told by people you probably know. The Family Show is Back!

Hooray! The Gallery's Family Show will return this summer, June through August.  We’ll happily display arts and crafts made by any member, relative of a member, or friend of the church. We’ll feature wall art (ready to hang) or 3-dimensional creations.  They can be for sale or not for sale.  We enjoy showing both children's and adults’ efforts. We’ll publish delivery dates and times soon.

So, get creative or dig out your past creations that we can share with each other!
