Becoming a Member

The members of East Shore Unitarian Church invite you to explore membership in our congregation.  We offer a liberal religious community in which people freely explore, develop and celebrate the meanings, values and purposes of their lives.  Why join?

  • To affirm the purposes and principles of our free religious tradition.
  • To enjoy a community of kindred spirits with whom they feel safe, welcomed, appreciated, and respected.
  • To experience spiritual growth for themselves and their children.
  • To find beliefs and values put into action through social outreach and education.

We require no creedal tests and no professions of dogma or doctrine. For us, membership is a covenant to walk together in fellowship and love. We ask only for an honest desire to participate in and support the life and work of the congregation.

We offer a two-hour membership class called "East Shore and You".  Visitors and new members come to discuss what membership means, get a quick history of Unitarianism, and meet others seeking a faith community. This is offered under classes 3 or 4 times a year.

We also offer a four week class called "Introduction to Unitarian Universalism" offered 2 or 3 times a year under classes on the website.  Everything you ever wanted to know about Unitarianism, Universalism, Unitarian Universalism, our congregation, and the denomination, but were afraid to ask!  Rev. Joan will take you on the magical “mythery” tour of our faith, denominational structure and heritage. Great for newcomer or long-time member alike.
