Programs for Youth

Our Youth Ministry at East Shore empowers each youth to grow in Unitarian Universalist faith through theological questioning, moral development, spiritual exploration and connections to UU community and heritage.

YES-U

Youth Exploring Spirituality

Open to High Schoolers ages 14-18;
meets on Sundays 11 am from September to June.

YES-U provides a framework within which youth can develop their commitment to the Unitarian Universalist faith and explore their personal spirituality through direct contacts with the faith traditions of others. Through doing this, we strengthen our own religious roots, and act as agents of positive, healing change in the world.

  • We meet on Sunday mornings to study religions and do the business of the group.

  • We travel to other places of worship to participate in religious ceremonies.

  • We talk with religious leaders about their faiths.

  • We engage in dialogue and companionship with youth of other religious traditions.

  • We discuss each visit and explore our new understandings with one another.

  • We join in many of interfaith events in our community.

Having fun together, enjoying each other, and laughing together is an important part of what we do.

A criminal history check is required on all of our volunteers who work with children on a regular basis.  These volunteers are also asked to submit three personal references and sign a Code of Ethics.
